Yoghurt may further aggravate a bacterial infection.

ii. Use a douche containing some unsweetened yoghurt to cleanse the vaginal area twice a day.

2. Tea tree Oil

II. Mix 1 clove of garlic and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in two cups of water and use the resulting solution for douching.

III. Take a fresh clove of garlic and wrap it using some cheesecloth. Tie this with some unwaxed dental floss and insert it into the vaginal area for several hours a day. Continue this for two extra days after the symptoms disappear.

4. Vinegar
Vinegar possesses antibacterial as well as anti fungal properties. Vinegar has an acidic pH and hence it helps to restore the vagina to its normal pH.

How to use vinegar
I. Fill a bath tub with enough warm water to soak the vaginal area. Add half a cup of salt and half a cup of vinegar (preferably apple cider vinegar) to the water and stir. Dip yourself in the water for about 20 to 30 minutes. Afterwards, dry the vaginal area thoroughly.
II. Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar as well 1 clove of garlic in two cups of water. Use this solution for douching the vaginal region.

5. Honey
Honey, though a very sticky and uncomfortable substance has been proven as an effective home remedy for yeast infections.

How to use honey
I. Take about 1/4 a cup of honey and apply onto the vaginal area. Leave it for about 20 minutes and afterwards wash with warm water and dry yourself thoroughly. This should be done twice a day; in the morning and before you sleep.

6. Boric acid
Boric is a chemical which kills yeast.
How to use boric acid
Insert one or two capsules of boric acid in the vaginal area and leave them overnight. It may cause an uncomfortable burning effect but will bring about relief. Continue this for two extra days after the symptoms disappear.

7. Potassium sorbate
Mix one tablespoon of potassium sorbate in a cup of water and dip a tampon into the solution. Insert the tampon in the vaginal area and let it stay overnight. Continue this for several nights until the symptoms completely disappear.
